I’ve been shooting a lot of portraits lately, I guess that’s the life of a community news reporter. It’s a good thing for me, the editorial portrait is something I’m always trying to hone as it is one of the elements of being a photographer that can be most tricky; finding a way to make a subject comfortable enough to be themselves. I find my own photos to be best at telling a story when I’ve removed myself completely from them, not always the easiest in a portrait scenario. Here are a few of my latest attempts (with a few non-portraits from the same assignments sprinkled in).
